Their love story started with a cross-country adventure. It was proven through a year of unimaginable challenges. This is the story of their triumphant return to Aruba to celebrate life, legacy, and a love that is as vibrant and resilient as the island itself.

An exotic bouquet bursting with fuchsia and purple, a magnificent circular altar symbolizing an eternal promise, and a heartfelt tribute that brought tears of pure, healing joy? Yes please.
From the radiant sunshine sparkling on the turquoise sea to the soulful promises that honored a journey of incredible resilience, we are still overwhelmed by the beauty of Shawn and Pam’s destination wedding at the Hyatt Regency Aruba. Because their story is a testament to creativity, passion, and finding the light, their celebration was designed to be a perfect reflection of that spirit—a day that was as luminous, vibrant, and soulful as their love.
With a dance floor illuminated by a glowing LOVE sign, an Inter-Faith ceremony that masterfully wove two worlds into one, and a palpable feeling of a dream finally, beautifully realized (sign us up!), this celebration has us believing in the power of a promise kept and a love story that finds its perfect home in paradise. This is their story.
Shawn and Pam’s love story is a beautiful adventure, a shared quest for warmth and light that began in the heart of a Chicago winter six or seven years ago. Their journey together was ignited by a bold decision: to escape the deep freeze and drive cross-country, trading the icy winds of the Midwest for the sun-drenched desert landscapes of Arizona. This foundational trip set the tone for a partnership defined by exploration, spontaneity, and a shared desire for a life less ordinary.
Pam, a seasoned international traveler, found her perfect counterpart in Shawn. Their love blossomed alongside his growing collection of passport stamps as he eagerly matched her adventurous stride. While the world paused during the pandemic, so did their plans for foreign travel, but their dream never faded. In 2022, they finally embarked on their first island adventure together, choosing the one happy island of Aruba.
Aruba became the symbolic heart of their story. It was more than just a beautiful destination; it felt like a reflection of their journey. For Shawn, it held a special significance, marking the very first stamp in his passport. For both, the island’s unique desert-like beauty, with its divi-divi trees and playful iguanas, echoed the landscape of their new Arizona home. They left so enchanted by the island’s warmth, laughter, and spirit that they vowed to return.
Now, they have fulfilled that vow, transforming their return into a triumphant celebration. This wedding was far more than a ceremony; it was the “light at the end of the tunnel” after a year filled with personal work and health challenges. It was a conscious choice to pause, gather their dearest friends and family, and immerse themselves in the healing joy of “vacation mode.”
Woven into the very fabric of the celebration were poignant threads of family love and remembrance. Their union was lovingly sealed with the blessing of Pam’s late father, which he had given a year before his passing in 2021. Though he could not be there in person, his spirit was an undeniable and honored presence. It was this blessing that made their commitment feel both sacred and complete.
This wedding in Aruba became the perfect new chapter in a story about finding love and then traveling the world—and across the country—to build a home together. It’s a testament to their patience, their resilience, and a love that is as warm and bright as the island sun itself.

For a celebration as significant as Shawn and Pam’s, the choice of venue is paramount. The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino on Palm Beach is not merely a location; it is an experience, an oasis of luxurious serenity and vibrant tropical life that perfectly embodies the spirit of a dream destination wedding.
From the moment you arrive, the Hyatt envelops you in an atmosphere of refined elegance. Lush palm trees sway in the breeze, elegant tiki torches flicker as dusk approaches, and the gentle sound of waterfalls from the resort’s multi-level pools and lush gardens blends seamlessly with the soft lapping of the ocean waves. This creates a beautiful and immersive environment that feels both grand and incredibly personal. The air is filled with the scent of tropical flowers and saltwater, creating a sensory experience that instantly signals a departure from the everyday into a world of paradise.
The resort’s location on Palm Beach is simply unparalleled. Known for its miles of powdery white sand and famously calm, turquoise waters, Palm Beach provides a breathtaking natural canvas. The beach is wide and expansive, offering ample space for both intimate ceremonies and grand celebrations, all with an unobstructed view of the magnificent Caribbean sunset. For Shawn and Pam, this setting, with the sun casting a brilliant, diamond-like sparkle across the water, was the perfect stage for their “luminous” celebration.
For couples planning a destination wedding, the Hyatt offers the ultimate peace of mind. Their world-class wedding and special events team ensures that every detail is handled with impeccable professionalism, allowing couples to relax and be fully present in their celebration. It was this team’s trusted partner, Jiten of G10 Studio, who first connected me with Shawn and Pam, a testament to the seamless network of excellence the Hyatt fosters.

The first week of September in Aruba is the essence of a deep, tranquil summer. The weather was a perfect symphony of tropical warmth, creating a flawless backdrop for the day’s events.
Shawn and Pam’s attire was a breathtaking vision of sophisticated beach charm.
Pam was the epitome of bridal grace in a simply elegant strapless gown that sculpted her silhouette beautifully before cascading into a delicate tail. Her romantic veil caught the golden Aruban light and danced in the gentle trade winds, creating a truly angelic vision.
Shawn was her perfect counterpart. He wore a handsome beige linen vest and matching pants, a color that mirrored the sun-kissed sand. Paired with a crisp, white long-sleeved button-down shirt, his ensemble was the ideal balance of formal and effortlessly relaxed. The vibrant touch of romance was in his boutonniere: a stunning combination of a dark pink rose and an exotic orchid.
Together, their styles were in perfect harmony—his earthy, natural tones beautifully complementing her timeless bridal white. They were a stunning portrait of destination wedding perfection.
The decor was a breathtaking fusion of tropical vibrancy and sophisticated elegance. The centerpiece of the ceremony was a magnificent circled altar arch, a perfect and complete ring symbolizing their unending love. Adorned with flowing fabrics and exquisite flowers in shades of purple, pink, and white, it framed their vows against the infinite backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
Pam’s exotic floral bouquet was a masterpiece, a lush symphony of deep purple and fuchsia Lilies, velvety fuchsia Roses, and a stunning cascade of Orchids, all softened by elegant white calla lilies. The rings were presented in a charming wooden box engraved with “We Do,” a rustic, personal touch. As night fell, a giant, luminous LOVE sign stood proudly on the beach beside the dance floor, casting a romantic glow on the festivities.
My most meaningful contribution to Shawn and Pam’s day was to help them craft a ceremony that was not only a celebration of their future but also a tender honor to their past and a beautiful blend of their spiritualities.
Working closely with them, we carefully crafted a memorable Inter-Faith ceremony that beautifully blended their backgrounds and beliefs. My role was to ensure this wasn’t just a combination of traditions, but the creation of a new, unified one that was profoundly meaningful to them as a couple. The result was a service that spoke to their souls—spiritual yet lighthearted, reverent yet joyful.
Knowing how deeply Pam’s late father’s blessing meant to them, I gently suggested a way to make his presence profoundly felt. We wove a White Rose Ceremony into their vows. This is a quiet, beautiful ritual where a small white rose centerpiece is placed on an empty chair, transforming a moment of absence into one of loving tribute and presence. As they placed the white rose centerpiece, a hush fell over the beach. It was a sacred, healing moment that honored his memory and allowed his spirit to be an integral part of their union. As Pam later shared, it was a gesture that “meant the world to us and brought tears of happiness.”
This spirit of deep personalization was the cornerstone of their entire ceremony. It was my honor to create a sacred space that honored their families, their faiths, and their complete, beautiful love story.
The true measure of a perfect ceremony is how it feels to the couple. I was so deeply moved to receive their heartfelt words, which so beautifully capture the spirit of our collaboration.
So Happy We Found Rev. Dr. Franklin Croes 💕
“We are so grateful we found Rev. Dr. Franklin Croes to officiate our wedding in Aruba this past September 2024. From the very beginning, he brought a personal touch, heartfelt consideration, and deep respect for both of our faiths, creating a truly meaningful interfaith ceremony that reflected who we are as a couple… His warmth is contagious—you can’t help but smile and feel at peace when speaking with him… One of the most touching moments of our ceremony was the white rose tribute in honor of my late father. Rev. Franklin handled this with such compassion and grace—it meant the world to us and brought tears of happiness to both our eyes and those of our guests. That moment, like many others, will stay in our hearts forever… If you’re considering getting married in Aruba, we wholeheartedly recommend Rev. Dr. Franklin Croes.
